Governance

Safeguard Park W through effective management and shared governance to make the wildlife populations and their habitats viable

Resources

Restore natural resources on the periphery of Park W through sustainable and profitable management of investments in livestock, tourism, agriculture and pharmaceuticals (shea, baobab, date, moringa, etc)

Populations

Create a real collaborative project with local populations so that they are the primary defenders of their natural heritage and the first actors in their own development

PRIORITY ACTIONS : Short term

- Secure Park W and its periphery thanks to an emergency plan to protect the environment (against human pressures like poaching, grazing, fishing and wood cutting) - Open and maintain a network of tracks, ponds, salt licks to monitor and protect animals. Assess habitat degradation within the Park and in the periphery and develop habitat restoration activities with local communities to increase their resilience - Establish an ecological monitoring system as a tool for evaluating the performance of protection and surveillance activities

PRIORITY ACTIONS : Medium term

- Construct and manage a training center for French-speaking Africa on wildlife conservation and re-introduction and recovery of endangered species. - Form cooperatives with local communities to develop sustainable value chains. - Ensure the sustainability of the project and the integrity of its natural heritage by promoting a landscape approach within the Regional Park W in close collaboration with regional development actors and local populations (awareness-raising and activities with these populations).

WAC Project "see it in video"

Biodiversity is a whole of which man is a part. When a species becomes extinct it is the whole world that is affected. Saving the living helps maintain the natural balance.
